Hey there, Cryptid CrossFit community! Get ready to don your unicorn horns and unleash your inner beast because the Unicorn Games are back on April 13, 2024 and they’re going to be epic! We’re gearing up for a day of camaraderie, sweat, and pushing our limits—all in the spirit of community, fun, and health.

WOD 1: Two-Part Thriller

Part A: In this heart-pounding opener, teams will tackle a relentless series of movements within a 16-minute WOD. Here’s what you’ll be facing:

  • 6 Rounds For Time (RFT) with alternating partners with 9 minutes to complete:
    • 8 Hang Snatches (95/65 lbs)
    • 8 Lateral Burpees Over the Bar
    • 8 Hang Cleans
    • 8 Lateral Burpees Over the Bar

Remember, you’ve got to complete a full round before tagging your partner to keep the momentum going. It’s all about teamwork and pushing each other to the finish line!

Scaling options are available to ensure everyone can join in on the action, whether it’s adjusting weights or modifying the burpees. The goal is to challenge yourself while having a blast.

Part B: Once Part A is conquered, it’s time to shift gears and focus on raw power. With a combined team total for snatch and clean, athletes will showcase their lifting prowess. Here’s the drill:

  • Combined Team Total for Snatch and Clean
  • Choose between partner A and B on who does the snatch and who does the clean. Athletes will have 7 minutes to build to their one rep max.
  • Athletes have the option to go directly into the lifts if they finish Part A early, but there is an option to rest from the 9-10 minute mark.

Every pound counts towards your team’s total, so give it your all!

WOD 2: Unleash the Beast Within (16 Minute Cap)

Get ready to unleash the beast within as you tackle a grueling lineup of movements. Here’s what’s on the menu:

  • 100/80 Calorie Row
  • 80 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches (50/35 lbs)
  • 60 Box Jump Overs (24/20 inches)
  • 40 Chest to Bar Pull-ups
  • 20 Devil’s Press

This one’s all about endurance, strategy, and pushing past your limits. Work with your partner to strategize how to break up the reps effectively, playing to each other’s strengths to keep the momentum going.

Scaling options are available to ensure everyone can participate and feel the burn.

Part C: Obstacle Course

But wait, there’s more! Brace yourselves for the ultimate test of agility and grit—a thrilling obstacle course that will put your skills to the test. Navigate through a series of challenges, from hurdles to rope climbs, showcasing your agility and determination.

Scoring and Division Breakdown:

In the spirit of friendly competition, the Unicorn Games will feature scoring across Men’s and Women’s RX as well as scaled divisions based on the performance in each WOD. Here’s how it breaks down:

WOD 1 Scores: For WOD 1, both Part A and Part B will contribute to the overall score. The scoring system will be based on the placement of teams in each division.

Example: Let’s say there are 6 teams in the Women’s RX division. The points awarded for each placing would be as follows:

  • 1st place: 6 points
  • 2nd place: 5 points
  • 3rd place: 4 points
  • 4th place: 3 points
  • 5th place: 2 points
  • 6th place: 1 point

Similar scoring structures will be applied to other divisions based on the number of participating teams. This format ensures that every team’s effort is recognized and contributes to the overall standings.
